I thought there was a strong influence from poetic realism. That heightened aestheticism, finding the magical in the mundane, how children can imagine the sun can rise by playing the guitar or how strangers can remember a song played by their mythic archetypes. Cocteau's Orphee is still my favourite retelling of the myth, but there is greatness in this film in its vibrancy and sensuality.
